Lily has been obsessed with all things Ariel and mermaids this year so of course we landed on an Under the Sea Little Mermaid party for her 4th birthday. I like the keep food as simple as possible but lean heavy into our theme of choice. Per usual each food item matches the characters from the classic 1989 movie.

The Little Mermaid party food ideas:
Flounder’s friends (goldfish)
Max’s pretzel chew bones (pretzel sticks)
Flotsam and Jetsam’s seaweed skewers (grapes on kabob sticks)
King Triton’s peanut butter & jellyfish sandwiches (PB&Js cut into dolphin & heart shapes)
Sebastian Sandwiches (chicken salad on croissants with googly eyes on sticks)
Scuttle’s Dinglehoppers & other Thing-a-bobs (forks, spoons & knives)
Ursula’s Adult Only potion (Sangria)
Clamshell Cookies (Nilla wafers with frosting and a pearl sprinkle)

Our craft was to decorate and fill your own treasure box. This also served as our party favor. For our main party activity princess Ariel herself swam into our party to greet princess Lily and her merfolk friends. Ariel was so sweet and engaging! She sang several songs, danced with the kids and read them a princess story. This was such a special treat to have the princess of the sea greet us in person!

The Little Mermaid party activities:
Decorate a treasure chest and add some treasures
Ball pit filled with mermaid colored balls and mermaid stuffies
Princess Ariel came to visit with songs and a story

The Little Mermaid party décor:
Treasures like in Ariel’s Grotto: Candle Holders/Silverware (Dinglehoppers!)/Treasure Chest/Old Jewelry
Seaweed Garland – made by using plastic tablecloths
